It ould cost too much for yamaha to produce them and meet the epa requirements. With as long as they have been on the market I am willing to bet there will parts both after market and oem availible for many years to come.

riiiiiiiiiight.

They're giving the manufacturers until dec. 31st, 2005 to either make their 2-stroke models pass emissions (why they're banning them) or drop them from their lineup. So, if yamaha could make the blaster and banshee pass emissions standards, they could technically keep them around. (they're not going to, it would be too expensive)

Wait a sec, why is yamaha having so much trouble passing emissions with the 2-stroke ATV's and there is no trouble with the 2-stroke dirt bikes? Are there different thresholds for bikes and atv's?

a little of topic but...

I was reading Popular Mechanics about 1-2 years ago and i came across a CLEAN 2-Stroke engine (i'm not sure if you guys heard of this). It used straight gas. I'm trying to find the article but i havn't found it yet but it was really really sweet! That'll save the 2-Stroke.
