Raptor Airbox Lid/Idle problems?
#1
I have heavily modified my stock snorkle and airbox lid to get as much flow as I can without removing it as i usually play in very wet or muddy areas. Today i removed it as I was playing in the dry and did notice some top end gains..However the bike idles so rough now and pops a little at low rpm with light throttle. Any ideas?? I put it back on and it runs fine...could it have anything to do with that hose that runs off of the snorkle?

When you take off the airbox lid your leaning out the fuel mixture. If you wanna run with the lid off you must turn the air screw out a little or put a bigger pilot jet in.
Basically, your bike runs lean with the lid removed...just jet up if you decide you want it this way.

ok...jetting seems to be the issue here. I am running 146/148 mains. and dynojet pilots, what should I change the pilots to so that I can run with the lid off or on with only a tweak of the mixture screws, or is this even possible?

i just installed 170/175 , need to ride it, but it sure sounds good
I am at sea level, think i had the clips on 3rd or 4th..need to wait til I ride for any fine tuning
3 turns out each side....i will update after I ride it tomorrow nite
the uni-123 breather filter 1/2in diameter works good and gets rid of the rough idle for some reason

170/175..they are huge jets???? are you sure you need to go that big? Thanks for the tip on the breather filter I will try it out. My needles are on the 4th clip. Wil it help to move them to 2 or 3?

The only way to know if it's gonna help is to just try it and see, thats how jetting works.
170/175 is big but prolly not to big..wouldn't wanna go any bigger with the mods you have prolly though.

i thought that was way too big, but the #'s came from a dynojet tech when I told him where I was and what I had, and what the symptoms were....without hesitation 170/175 and then adjust clips on needle up or down from there(up if too rich, down if 2 lean) he said the dynojet kit with 150 being largest size is for stock systems(no pipe or airbox mods) got on it good in my culdesac 1st and 2nd gears...and it sounded nice....ran well and my 2 front tires werent on the ground....tomorrow I will see how the top end goes
also take into consideration its 90+ degrees outside with superhigh humidity in Louisiana and i am 100 ft above sea level
