Widen 04 Raptor?
#1
Has anybody tryed widening a Raptor using the durablue spacers? Do they hold up (I will be jumping it, but only a few feet off the ground)? I am looking to make it a little more stable in the corners. I do not have enough money to get new A-Arms and rear axle at this time. I am assuming if you widen the rear you have to do the front at the same time.
Thanks for the help!

I had some generic Ebay spacers on the rear of my 01 for a little more than a year and they were very strong. I hit a tree with the back wheel at about 25 MPH and bent the Axle, but the spacers are still in perfect condition. To widen the front I flipped the rims around, this worked pretty good and is a cheap way to gain some stability. Flipping the front rims will cause the suspension to be a little softer than normal.

Why not just flip your rims up front and get wheel spacers for the back. The main thing I have heard wheel spaces do is up front..I have heard they can brake an a arms becuz when you jump, then don't want to give, so it makes the a arms give? But I haven't heard anything wrong about using them in the back.

If you run a quality spacer like DMI Racing or Sand Sport, you won't have any problems. Durablue has had alot more problems producing a reliable spacer and are more expensive than either of the other two. I run DMI and love them.

I have widen my back and front. I had no problems. I used a set of aluminum rear spacers off ebay and a set of stud extenders for the front off ebay. I have the front extenders on all my quads and have not had a problem. The rears also works great, I put on an new axle this year and put the extentions on my other raptor. We play hard, but are not mx racers. I would recomend these as it is a good way to see if you like how it handles widened. JMO, works for me.

In My expirience it is not the quality of the spacers that is ever a problem weather they are billiet or composite but, the fact the the stock axel can't handle the extra stress the spacers add! You will bend the axel much easier w/ spacers! Same goes for the a-arms!
