Is there any? I would rather not hassle with repacking as I do a lot of riding and 30-50 hours comes pretty quick. Please, if anyone knows, I'm just a couple days away from getting a new pipe but need advice. thanks in advance!

is the only advantage to repacking is to get the noise down?? or is it a maintinence thing/? any performance gains?? do you need to clean your muffler from time to time?

HMF guarantees their pipes to not need repacking for ten years. That's pretty impressive.

I hear that HMF pipes you are not supposed to have to repack. Something to the effect that where most companies use fiberglass packing, they use a ceramic type packing and then the packing is placed inside a cover. The ceramic is not supposed to burn up like fiberglass and the pillow helps to keep the packing in tact as to keep it from blowing out by chance.

Here's a link to the Wolverine pipe.

the packing mostly just a sound deadner, If loud is not an issue then take it out and it will flow more air. I have no packing at all in my Alien DMC and the inner cap is gone too, it kept blowing out the rivets and coming apart so I welded it up and ground it all smooth. I dont care how loud it is as long as it runs real good.

Repacking is not a must unless you plan to ride in sound sensitive area's. If this is the case you should look into a pipe that is easy to repack. If you get a pipe that has allen screws to take the pipe apart you can repack it in 5 min! If you get one with rivets it is a pain!

Repacking on a performance engine will help power. It keeps the exhaust pressure and speed in the perfect tune needed for max performance. I can tell a difference going from blown packing to new packing on my banshees.

Ceramic is superior to fiberglass.

So would I only have to repack every couple hundred hours? If so, that is not as big of a deal. I called white bros. today and they told me that I have to repack it every 30-50 hours. Loudness is an issue too, I would prefer it not to be too too loud. Does anyone know of a pipe that isn't really loud that doesn't need repacking, or am I living in a dreamworld . What about HMF, I was pretty close to buying this pipe, seems to fit the bill, although I have heard it is loud as well.
