dude im havin the same dilema....im tradin my raptor in as ull see from my other post...only i need a serious Trail machine as i will be doing Hare Scrambles and GNCC type races.....

I have to consider the 05YFZ
the 05 Predator- know not much about, and i havent seen a whole ton of aftermarket!
05 450R
05Z400 - totally redone since i had my 03

I have to consider all of this and its going to be hard weighin the pros from the cons...

I like the looks of the predator, but i do not know that much about it. I like the fact that it comes with alot of extras that all other quads in its class dont come factory with, such as .190's, with Maxxis Razr's front and rear, Braided brake lines, fox rezzy shocks, now with reverse but its its first year for that so im leary on how well that would hold up??? It could be faulty and need corrected... there are a few other major things that are nice and i do like the fact that its got a nicer axle then most and things of that sort....most ppl overlook the chains that come on quads such as the 520 thats now on the 05 Z400 and the Predator!

I wish i knew how well the new seat on the 05yfz felt let alone how well it would perform on the trails along with the 450R
The 450R i could imagine being a real pain if mid to end race u stall out when ur all muddy or covered in dirt and u have to kickstart it....if u hit it on a downstroke, ur gonna get F-ed up possibly a bused up shin or broken leg... Thing is Honda has really really really good quality stuff and that R is really advanced especially with its new oil design how its 2separate sumps clutch from engine and u can run diff oils......

I have too many options here and dont know how to go about picking a new machine....
Norris is where i am going to be doing my trade in, they do not handle Polaris, just Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawi....

The Z is a really really great bike i will say that, its got a lower center of gravity then my raptor does, and its not front light
(wheelie prone) and seems more stable unless u mod the hell out of the raptor like i did! Axles, spaceres shocks...ect....

The Z is similar to the raptor in that they are not good at any 1 thing..............but they do everything well, especially trail riding due to the reverse and ground clearance....i think i would get a lil more fatigued on the YFZ becuase it is a real stand up all-the-time machine! ITs got way stiffer shocks but its set up for MX and Jumping soakin up the jumps and that sort of thing, i need to ride an 05 with the new seat, before i really make my call on whether or not the YFZ is outta the question or not!

Hope this helps,

i own a yfz and rode the 450r this weekend on a 3 + hour trail ride. The Honda is a great bike with a couple drawbacks. 1)kickstart, sounds cool but it sucks when you do any technical riding because it's a bitch to start on an incline. 2) the fairing coverage sucks and you get alot of debris thrown up on you from the front wheels. 3)The yfz is a faster trail bike and handles better. The top speed on both bikes stock is about 68-72 depending on what test you believe. And I have no problem with the comfort level of the yfz, I own a Honda CBR and know the definition of uncomfortable.

If u dont mind me asking how tall are u and how much do u weigh, i am 6' 230...and am not sure if the YFZ is gonna work for me or not!

My big Debate is 05YFZ vs 05Z400, i dont wanna have a kickstart....i think ill end up in the hospital lol......
