I've been contemplating lately to sell my raptor.. im sick of dropping money into it.. it seems like it has only been as of late but i dont wanna keep dropping money into it everytime i take it out.. My question is.. now that i have had my one way fixed my head rebuilt new piston new rod whats the likely hood that next time i take it out its gonna break?

I usually only sell stuff that was given to me that I dont need/or want...

doesnt make sense to sell something you just got fixed

I guess if you dont like it, then sell it

and get something you like

if you like it, then ride it

I like it a lot.. but the last 8 times i have taken it out somehting has broken.. it has been as minor as a sproket to as major as top end rebuild and one way bearing.. EVERYTIME i drop money into the dang thing my love goes.. if it was 15 bucks here and 40 there it would be fine but 1,800 here 400 there 1,500 there, 250 here. it just gets ANNOYING it doesnt make sense to sell it after all the money i have put into it but whats teh likelyhood that it will go again? i KNOW it will go again but im talking short term.. should i have to be worring about anything else going wrong?? it has all around motor work the only thing that hasnt been changed is the tranny. and that should hold up. .i have replaced handle bars, one way bearings, oil tank problems, rev limiter problems.. jettings behind me... new tires, new swingarm bearings, new srokets,, aftermarket pipe headers cam chains bran new cams brand new pistons brand new brand new rod brand new BLACKDIAMOND valves brand new rocker arm brand new one way bearing and gear.. brand new heavy duty clutch brand new hauler paddle tires brand new footwells brand new handle bars brand new air filter brand new port polish brand new clutch and brake lever, brand new oil filter, brand new oil tank brand new gas tank breather hose, brand new bowl screws brand new pilot jets , brand new oil fresh 105 octane gas. TREATED WITH THE UPMOST RESPECT what more does this F***** want? all i can think of thats left for this overpriced SOB is A_ARMS SHOCKS AND A NEW FRAME AND 12 INCH SWINGARM.. I'll tell u this much.. IF i decide to keep it. AND it breaks again im hookin it to the back of my truck swinging it around the corner at 50 mph right into the side of the yamaha shop!!! then ILL GO BUY A HONDA> my buddy has had 2 400ex's since 2000 and we ride together all the time. he actually rides more.. the only thing he has replaced on those is the OIL and that has only been like 3 times never replaced the spark plugs never had valves adjusted NEVER cleaned the air filter and he has NEVER EVER had a problem in nearly 5 years running SURE there not fast but he(( they are reliable I NEED HONEST ANSWERS *******WHAT MORE COULD GO WRONG?*********

Sorry im venting.. that felt DA[]v[]n GOOD!

yea, my old riding buddy always told me not to mod anything til it breaks...then as stuff break...you replace with better aftermarket stuff...smart guy...

seeing how I have only had my bike for 2 months, maybe I will feel like you down the road

one thing that I have decided....is that I wont be modding my engine...for at least the 1st couple years...if it lasts that long

I think your best bet...would be to sell it

then buy a new pred/ds650/450....whatever and leave it stock(engine) and just ride and enjoy...maybe even look into a warranty

nothing wrong with getting rid of it...maybe your mechanic needs to be replaced too

good luck

Hearing all that makes me cringe. It's like...you want to mod your bike to get some more power but you know if you do theres gonna be issues. I think one of the things is that we always want more and our nature is to be greedy in many aspects. we almost have to control ourselves from getting more Shiz. The only way I would Mod my engine that much is if I was a serious pro rider and a sponsor paid for it. which will never happen. I'll be 32 this year and I have learned the hard way. "if it aint broke dont fix it".
It really sounds like you have a great machine there. Almost top to bottom new and aftermarket. and my guess is that youll never get back what you have already sunk into it. Keep it and treat it well. and pray it holds up.
good luck

Is there any other common raptor problems? i think ive delt with just about everyone.. what should be my yearly maintincence schedule.. ?
I like to change the oil about every time i go out and change teh filter every other time.. i dont grease the chain because the sand just gets stuck to it..? how often do i need to replace teh cam chain? how often should i have valves adjusted what other maintinence steps will keep this running for a long time? whats the best oil? yamalube? or what? thanks

When you hop up raptors, The reliability goes out the window. Do you have someone work on your bike? Or do you do the work yourself? I found half the problems I had was caused by the morons at the bike shop. Wrench your own bike, thers no other way!
