Did anyone read the shootout in Atvsport between the Raptor, Ds650, Predator, and the Kfx 700. I think the top speeds are a bunch of bull. There's no way the raptor does under 70mph, the Ds was the only one that made it over 70. Like the heading of that section says, Radar Schmadar.

 

Nope what were the top speeds for them?

 

The DS was about 71mph, the predator was about 68, the raptor was about 67, and the Kfx was about 65. They must've had a 400lb rider weighing those monsters down.

 

Well...I been riding alot of years...I can't get my stock raptor into the 70's....now granted there is a bit of error on a gps...but I would bet they(magazine) are close to the right speeds.

Everyone is so concerned with top speeds on an atv...have you ever put an atv(raptor) with knobbies on to a road and went full out in top gear? They don't handle so great....actually it's kind of scary. your vision gets blurry from all the vibration. and heaven forbid some little critter jumped out in front of you.....

Don't get so worked up over top speed until you can go to any mx track and pin the thing wide open in top gear for the full 20 minute moto.

I can only get 74 out of mine right now...I swear out of the box it hit 77(stock)

ah, it only matters how fast you get from point a to point b. You cant go anywhere near that fast in the woods, but it is nice to know that you can go that fast. I dont mind the handling at those speeds on the highway too bad. My Wolverine only does about 65 or so, about 68 on a car speedo, but you will never see it in the woods. I dont know how you guys are hitting those rediculous speeds stock? I had a bone stock 2004 TRX450R going flat out down a dirt road and it would only hit 66.7mph. I also rode a YFZ450 with an HMF pipe and 18in tires flat out on the hard road and could only hit 65.9mph. I dont know how you guy are hitting 75 and 80. Not to say that you arent.

I typically have my gear ratios high anyway. It doesnt really matter to me to be able to go 75mph instead of 65. Top speeds are not as good of a comparison as drag times are.

Right on maddog, if it goes 60 or so and gets you there in a rush, then thats alright with me. It has to have some top end though, 55 isnt going to cut it for me.
