You should be using the 170 / 175 main jets with the needles on groove # 3. You need to lean the float level 2mm to keep the bike from running so rich down low.

Thank you,

the above message was what dynojet is suggesting I do after I sent them a pic of my plug.

I got the 170/175 jets installed....I have to raise the needles up 1 to groove #3(that should help a tad to lean it out) but the float level 2mm....I don't have a clue...any help?

Do a search on float level or clear tube method. Type in sixsixT as the author. Basically you're going to use a clear tube on the carb bowl to set the floats.

Default leaning the floats...help

Voodoo

I took your advice and called Dynojet this morning. I told them that i was running Yoshi exhaust, ProFlow K&N, and a ESH Racing Lid (ordered it yesterday) and wanted to know what jets to use. (I thought I could order the ones I needed from him) Dude from dynojet told me to go with the 148/150. ?! I told him that i thought that would be too lean, since I am running lean at 146/148 with the stock lid on. But he insisted that I would not be lean. Now I don't know what to do.

Default leaning the floats...help

I know my ehs lid does not work as well as no lid at all...

the reason I went with no lid....cause I did not like the performance I got with the ehs lid

I am still working on my setup as you see from the email above....but mine does run well at 170/175

just need to lean it out a bit....move the clip up 1 and do the float adjustment

run it at 148/150 and see if it runs well....for me....I saw no impovement from stock at that jet size at wot

I do see an improvement at 170/175...just need to tweak

seeing how I only ride once a weak if I am lucky....this process takes me a while

Default leaning the floats...help

You guys have to remember that the dyno jet needles are tapered different than stock. I had the same concerns on my drz dirt bike. I put a pipe and bought the dyno jet kit. They recommended going down on the main...saying that I would still be in the safe zone or actually a little rich. I was very confused...until I did some research and talked to many engine tuners.

My conversation went like this:

Q-The main jets settings sound way lean.Im using the 150/27.5 jetting
now and it isnt rich.Im afraid my bike will overheat causing a good amount of damage.

A-The end dimension of the DJ needle is much smaller than the stock
needle. Therefore it blocks the main jet less enabling you to run a
smaller main jet. A 4 stroke that is lean enough to hurt itself will
not run correctly. It is very obvious when it is too lean.It will miss
fire severely at high rpms.I assure you the settings are safely rich. I
cannot control the fuel quality available across the country. I
compensate by suggesting slighty rich main jet settings. My personal
bike would run leaner main jets yet.

This is how it was explained to me. And my bike now rips.

I was under the impression that the main jets only come into play at 3/4 -wot

I am also under the impression that it is better to run a tad rich

I plan on doing a comparison between 148/150 and 170/175 next week as I am getting fairly good and fast at adjusting the jets...lol

last couple jet changes I have measured results by top end speed...don't know if this is a good way to measure performance....but with the bigger jets, my bike goes faster, pulls smoother, and the exhaust sounds better while running wot. I am no expert....but if I never even looked at my plug right now...I would be happy with the performance...if I can make it even better, thats gravy right now

I am excited to work on my bike after work, just to get it running perfect

I need to find a happy medium tho, cause when I go riding in the rain/mud I need the ehs lad to be on

so I will be trying to find a main jet/needle setup that will allow my bike to run well with no lid....and with ehs lid on...

I need to find a local guru to help me out and advise...maybe I will take to highlifter in shreveport and put it on the dyno

get some runs with ehs lid and no lid and find my happy medium
