Im not sure about this raptor, im a new rider and im looking for some opions on it. Is it a good quad for what it is?

 

The raptor 350 is a good machine, but if you are in the market for a machine of this caliber, you'd be better off with a honda 400ex. The only thing you would give up is reverse.

 

It's basically a new warrior I think there awesome especially with the red frame, is this your first quad? I have a warrior and its a great trail quad the only thing is it's hard to stand uo because of the seat but I believe that was fixed on the raptor 350. I think its a great quad for the money.

I would highly recommend this quad to a first time rider. It will be a perfect introduction into the world of sport quads. The Raptor 350 is a fairly peppy machine with excellent ergonomics and is priced very considerably. I would have to disagree with maddog on the grounds that reverse is an indespensable necessity for many riders and the comfort of the Raptor 350 far exceeds that of the Honda 400ex. Happy Riding.

Tell us what your looking for in a quad?How old are you,wieght size, what kind of riding experience do you have?The warrior is a great trail quad,the raptor is a little sportier version of it.Whether its the quad for you or not will depend on the other quesions.

 

After years of riding banshees and 250R's in the trails, reverse is a luxury and not necessary by any means.

The warrior is a great machine. I simply believe that the extra cost associated with the raptor 350 exceeds the market value. The small difference in price makes the 400ex something to consider when exploring the 300-400 class. MSRP is only 300 higher on the ex, and the deals seem to be greater for the ex as it has been out for much longer.

I cant speak for comfort, as I have not ridden the new redition of the raptor 350, just the warrior. I believe the superior suspsension of the ex would make it more comfortable unless the shock upgrades were substantial.

Otherwise, handling, power, stability, and control are better on the ex. Reliablity is great on both machines, so that really shouldnt be a factor. The aftermarket is swarmed with products for both, so that shouldnt be either.

Just an opinion and something for the person to consider.

 

Well i want something fast, thats for sure. Im 14 years old, about 5'3" and i weigh about 120 pounds. My dad was originally gunna get me a yfz. So i coould gradually get better and better with it and i could keep it awhile. But then he was just afraid that ill hurt myself on it... But before that we looked at the 350 raptor. so he suggested that. he wants to stick to yamaha because he bought a motorcycle and has a good crdit line, aswell as this new deal yamaha has going on.

I have hardly any riding experiance. I has bought a 1999 kawasaki mojave about 2 months ago, then it was stolin, the people who stole it ripped plastics, hotwired it and ruined it. It was gunna cost about 2 grand. Which is more then we bought it for

 

for your first time riding the raptor 350 is a good choice,but if you want something fast then go with yfz or rap 660 and just take it easy and get used to the bike.But i would suggest the rap 350,it ain't the fastest and it ain't the slowest either.Its a great bike and it should make you happy for a few years.

 

For a beginner there is no way you should be getting a YFZ! Learn the basics on a smaller machine.The warrior/raptor 350 will have more than enough power and speed to get you into trouble.I am a 39 year old rookie riding for only a couple of years on 4x4s.I bought a Warrior last year and was very impressed with it.This year I bought a DVX and found it a little intimidating at first so don't rush into a machine you won't be compfterable with and try to grow into it.

 

I agree dont jump at a big quad right away just to have power you need the basics to ride each quad but the raptor 350 is a great start and you should feel comfy with it when you have enough experience you can jump higher but stick with ther 350 and learn in a steady pace you wont feel over powered with the 350 but you can go all out with it without risking a arm or a leg or even worse.

Stick with the 350 until you have gained enough experience and you feel you are ready for the next step.
