Raptor Gearing for Holeshots
#1
I'm putting on a Lonestar +1 1/4" swingarm with a full LSR rear end. I'm hoping that this will help to improve my holeshots by keeping the front end down. I'm also changing my gearing. Right now I run 12-40, which is great for gobs of low end. But i'm upping the front sprocket back to stock (13) to try and help my holeshots. I'm going to try to keep the same gear ratio, however, by using a 43 tooth rear sprocket.
My questions are: will the swingarm be enough to help my holeshots without a gearing change?; will this gearing change take away too much from my bottom end, hurting me more by requiring more clutch work in corners and having less grunt for getting over doubles and tables?
I've done the math, and the sprocket change I'm thinking about comes out to almost the same ratio, 3:33. What do you guys think?

ive been running mx with the 12 front and love it
i have considered going back to the stock 13 but iride a friends with 13 in front
and it is big dif . if your worried about holeshot you definately want the smaller one
revs much quicker. maybe get a good set of holeshots or razrs
you should be able to beat all those 450s to the first turn on your rap its the turn you should
be worried about .

Tires aren't an option right now. What I'm trying to eliminate is wheelying. I want to create more wheelspin so I can jump out of the gate, not pull a wheelie. The best holeshots I got was when I ran my bike bone stock, except for a slip on and nerfs. I got everyone out of the hole with the stock gearing, without pulling the wheels.
I've got enough power to pull the 13 front, but i'm trying to maintain a similar gear ratio while trying to eliminate pulling the wheels at the start.
