What do you think would be a better deal to get? Ok, my local dealership has a 2001 Raptor with lonestar +2 chrome A-arms, Lonstar +4 axle, FMF exhaust, few billet parts, and a graphic kit. Overall in good shape very clean, dealer said it is still on original transmission and said that the only thing different between the 01 trannys and the 02's in that the ratios are different. Lier? The price is $4,500. My friends dad bought a 2003 Raptor brand new last summer and only took it out a few times, it looks brand new, all stock. He is selling it and he wants 4500 for it. what do you think? Which one would be better? I know that there the same price even tho one is newer, but the 01 already has all that money into the A-arms and axle to make it wider (somthing it could really use). Opinions?

Its true about the ratios but the 01 gears will go out on you. I would JUMP on that 2003 model.

Get the 03.... I bought my 03 when they were first available. I have had no problems with it at all, and you can also make the mods that you WANT to make. You may not want the +4 axle depending on what type of riding you are doing.

You shouldn't be scared of the 01 tranny but I would seriously consider the increased resale value of the 03.

You would be stupid to buy a 01 when you can get a 03 for the same price. By the way, 4500 is too high for a 01 no matter what it has on it. Don't get me wrong, I had a 01 and loved it, I'm just talking smart purchasing here.
