Just find the balance point. To tell you the honest truth, it was easier for me to learn with someone on the back. Their weight will bring the quad up fast. You gotta have some coordination also. Feathering the throttle and the brake when you need to. When you hit the balance point, you should be able to coast about 10 feet with no throttle and not flip over. Try and get a buddy on the back and try it that way. If you feel that your are going over, hit the rear brake. Practice makes perfect. I can wheely as far as I want to. Can take slight turns also while doing a wheely. Lean in what direction you want to go. I have some short videos of me doing a couple of wheelies. One on a Blaster (sitting down), another on a KFX700 (standing up). I can email them to you. On my personal page, there is a pic of me doing a slow creeping wheely. Thats the balance point. If your quad isnt point up that high, then you're not at the balance point. Just practice. Try and practice going up a small hill. Not a jump but a hill. I would try it coming out of a small ditch along the road.

On my 400ex I have rode a wheelie for 1 1/4 mile, no lies. I have a very very large feild in my bad yard and practice all of the time. If it was londer than what it is i could prolly keep goin another mile. I bring it down about 50 ft before the end of the feild. I have seen ppl do it further.

thats why i said to not do it at a high rpm, shifting without the clutch will not harm the clutch unless u do it constantly, i also own a 01 raptor and do this almost every time i ride...dont worry about killing ur quad just go out there and learn stuff, the more ur paranoid about crashing or ruining ur quad the longer ur gonna stay unexperienced on it...

Did a wheelie on my friend's 400ex across a frozen lake. Roughly 1.5-2 miles. started in 3rd gear and shifted through to 5th and held it. Now that I got a 450R I will try it this winter and should be fun. On my friend's 400ex I could hold a wheelie untill I run out of room.

I usually start them in 2nd, and then quick shift it to 3rd... As long as the tires have the same amount of air in them.. I can ride it for a long time... Shifting to 4th is a lil scary, cause by that time, I'm usually going about 40mph on grass on 2 wheels.
I always sit down when I do the wheelies... I took a pic from the video my friend shot of me doing a wheelie... you can check it out on my page.
