Default Raptor Oil Change.

Alright I am going to preform my first own oil change on my 2004 Raptor 660, I have many questions...

Is the location you drain the oil pan, the screw underneath it?

What about the oil in the engine and in the hoses leading to it?

I don't know how it is with a quad but on a car I know you fill the oil filter with oil first then screw it on, how do you do this on a raptor since the filter is mounted horizontally?

I heard to use YamaLube that sound good? And something like 3.5 quarts of it?

I am just about to check the manual now but I want to know how you guys do it.

Thanks,

Mike.

Default Raptor Oil Change.

Please first read the owners manuel.

1. its the bolt down and near the shifter and take the skid plate off for less mess.

2. don't forget the oil in the oil tank, drain bolt on bottom of tank

3. oil filter, just put enough in to wet the filter or enough so it doesn't run out the threaded hole on the filter and then spin on fast

4. since its new go ahead and use the yamahlube

5. 3.5 qts and you will overfill and the total amount is closer to 2 qts, 12oz to 2 qts 16 oz with new filter

Just prepare for a mess under the oil tank and when removing the filter. I rig a funnel up with a small hose which goes over to the collection pan when removing the oil tank bolt and then I still put paper towels around.

Buy a small funnel so you can pour the oil easier into the oil tank and myself on the first fill can get in 1.75 qts then start up and let run for 30 secs and then after shut down can add the rest of the oil required

Something else to remember is that the oil filter that came on my machine was on so tight that I had to take a screw driver and almost chisel it off.

Default Raptor Oil Change.

it makes it easyer if u have an oil filter changing tool.. and when u get the new oil in it..run it idle for like 2 minutes check it agian fill as needed, then run it agian for two minutes then check it and fill as needed, u have to get it flowing to all parts of your engine.
