What do you guys know about the 450 Kodiak??
I'm torn between that, or a 500 Vinson?!!!

Are you talking about 2005 for both?
There are lots of differences. The biggest is the 4wd system. The vinson and the kodiak are both limited slip in 4wd, which means the tire with the least amount of grip...will get more power. But, the kodiak can switch to full differential lock, when needed, and all 4 tires will turn when the power is on, even if one is in the air. The vinson cant be locked.
The 2005 kodiak is independant rear suspension, and the vinson is still solid axle. The kodiak will feel a bit tippier, and give a smoother ride. The vinson will be more stable, and have a bit rougher ride. If youre pulling trailers alot, then the solid axle might be a better choice.
Both motors are strong and sound good, and both have a good belt drive system.

since you posted the Q on a Yamaha forum, i think you'll get biased feedback to the Yamaha. I like my 450, which has a solid axle ('05 is the first year they've gone to the IRS). I also considered Suzuki. I haven't had great luck with my Suzuki products in general. BUT, the Vinson has the option of semi-auto so you control the gears, whereas Kodiak doesn't.

I relied on my relatives who have owned and ridden everything, and they weren't keen on Suzuki, and have had good experience with Yamaha. I'm sure both are good quads.

 

I preferred the Kodiak enough to buy a leftover 2004 , about 5 weeks ago. I was leaning towards the irs, but after thinking about it, ...being past the go fast days of my youth, Id rather have the more stable feeling and much lower price.
I wont bash suzuki, i have an ozark , that i think is just terrific for an entry sized machine.
I think the final decision for me, was the Yamaha automatic, is much quieter and troublefree, and has much better engine braking, than any of the other autos.
And the locking front differential, because i ride in the snow, and i know from past experience, thats a huge plus.
