Default Kodiak locking diff

I have a 2002 Kodiak 400 and was under the impression that it was full 4WD and not limited slip in the front. I had it out today and got stuck in some mud and the rear wheels were spinning along with only 1 front wheel. Is this normal?? And if so, does anybody make a differential lock that can put this into true 4WD??? Any help would be appreciated.

far as i know, only the 450 and Grizz have diff-lock. I 'm sure it could be converted, but i think it'd be cheaper to trade in your '02 against a 450 of the same year. they were about $500 diffrence new.

What happened to you is normal. If you rock the quad back and forth you will see that the power will shift to which ever wheele has the least amount of resistance. If you equal out the resistance to both wheels, then they will both turn.
I'm not sure about the 400, but the 05 450 Kodiak has the same locking front dif. and ind. rear sus. as the Grizzly. I have the 04 Griz and it's awsome. I try and get stuck but it's pretty hard. There are times when I can't go any farther forward, but the locker will always push me back out the way I came. Trade your 02 in for a 05 450, you won't regret it. Also take a look at some of the other brands. They're all getting pretty competetive.
