i have a 99 beartracker and it has lost 2nd gear i would like to fix it my self becuase i dont want to pay what the guy wants to fix it but i am not sure what could be wrong with it. i am a very good mechanic but i usually work on tractors and old farm trucks i dont know what could be wrong and what would be involed in fixing it. and about how much it would cost. any help would be appreciated.

Yamaha sell the manuals online. Go buy it ,repair the quad and ride. If its just a couple gears and a gasket set a hundred bucks should cover it.

 

yeah but i dont think the manuels from the factory tell you how to do major engine repairs. and haynes and clymer dont make one for it i still could use some more help guys thanks

 

the manual will show you everything you need. It wont tell you exactly whats wrong but it will tell you how to take it all apart.

 

Make sure its the service manual not the owners .

 

okay they are like 60 bucks but it is better that 600 bucks to have it fixed by the mechanic. thanks you guys how long of a project do you think it would be i kind of need to have it fixed before oct 8 thanks again
