Default triZ-250 Banshee

Ive found a banshee that is race ready...ex-aarms, axle, etc......but has a triZ250 motor mounted in it. The guy who is selling it said that the triZ-250 motor is Yamaha's version of the 250r motor. I was wondering if this would be a good bike to get, becasue i want to start racing mx and i need a good "cheaper" bike...thanks

It was probably just done so he could race in the 250 class. You need to look to see if the chain drags anywhere, if its ligned up "perfectly" straight with the rear sprocket, and if th e pipe is a custom piece that fits perfect or some other piece that had to be relived and such in places to make it fit. It may be possible to put a banshee engine back in it with little work but dont count on it. When I was putting the RD motor in my warrior I had to remove several of the stock motor mounts. Also, might wanna ask what overbore the cylinder is on since its such an old motor. Wouldnt make it worthless but if its on the last one the crank may or may not be close to needing a rebuild and youll have to resleeve next time you do the top end.
