Default raptor recalls

I understand that a few years back there were recalls on the Raptor for tranny problems and/or brake problems. I am looking for specifics and cant find them at CPSC or at Yamaha. Any suggestions or does anyone have copies out there they'd be willing to fax to me? From what I've been reading, the tranny issue seemed rather significant.? Thanks for your help.

01 trannies were junk, but there was never a recall or even a service bulletin on them to my knowledge. The only recall ever issued for the raptor was for the rear brake, and it was a very insignificant issue that was remedied by an additional fastner and washer.

My understanding of the tranny issue was that they were "locking up" in 2nd or some such issue.?

Geddy, you will hear many people who say the broke their 01 tranny. I have an 01 and it's still going strong. So I wouldn't "RUSH" to judgment on the 01s although this issue seems to be in the LIMELIGHT, however if the price is close between and 01 and an 02 that you're looking at I would definitely make a VAPOR TRAIL to the 02. But, if you're a WORKING MAN and you're IN THE MOOD to take a tranny apart the 01 would maybe be okay, especially if it's a good buy. But you know, on your first ride it could be PRESTO, busted gears and then you're DRIVEN to a MANHATTEN PROJECT spending THE BIG MONEY.

Thanks for the insight. I figued people would be Finding There Way to this link and I would then be able to Take Myself a Friend who knew something about Trannys. (No Cinderella Men though). Hey, the top of this very page has Moving Pictures! Perhaps that is a Signal of some sort? Thanks again but I have to get back to work as the Countdown has begun and I will be working like Grace Under Pressure for the rest of the day.
