Warrior pull start?
#12
the warrior is another one of our fam favorite bikes. we've had several of these and banshees on and off through the years ever since they came out. if i am not mistaken, the recoil start was standard on the warrior until 1990. in 1990, the warrior received the most exstensive makeover of its life. the engine was moved back a few inches (the 87-89 models had a hellaciously heavy front end weight bias),
the headlights were moved up, the wheels went from gold to aluminum for the first time, the plastics, of course, were different colors and they changed something with the carb to make it stop cutting out after a jump and to attempt to make the gas stop "boiling" in the float bowl. sounds like an impossibility for gas to boil, but that is what was reported to happen back in the early days of the warrior.
i liked the backup recoil starter when the battery needed replacing, but it was hard to pull. now, yamaha had a decompression release lever on the right side of the engine on these models to alleviate the problem- but watch your hand when operating it or you would burn the **** out of it. also, if you did not make a good pull then you would have to reflip the lever everytime you attempted to start it. it was kinda cumbersome process.
