Default YFZ 450 VS. 660 RAPTOR?

My YFZ rips.....and all I did was open up the intake/exhaust with an intake kit - cut my stock pipe short and gutted it, did the cam mod, and went up a tooth on my front sprocket (this helps alot in MX).......the thing about it is, it just revs out so much quicker than the torquey Rappy......with a bigger bore and lots of mods, my bf's Raptor will probably beat me in a drag........we will find out at Halloween at the dunes! I was shocked when my piped/jetted Shee got beat by an almost stock YFZ........I kept thinking my Shee just wasn't running right....but it was running perfect!!! That's when I started getting interested in the 450! And now.....here I am!

The new YFZ is in a league all by itself. My rappy will just beat a stock YFZ in a drag and we are about even at top end ( my gears are far from stock). A buddy I ride with has an 04 YFZ with full yoshi pipe, airbox and jetting changes only and he runs me into the ground in most situations except the hill climbs (steeper it is the more the rappy hurts him). I have rode his bike plenty and just don't feel comfortable on it like I do the raptor so there is no change over for me. A 686 kit with cam and head work and I will have him beat again. The bikes handle very differently and the YFZ will kill anything around it at a MX track. We all know how much you have to put into a Raptor to make it a MX bike that can win whereas the YFZ just needs gas put in it. However niether me or him think long trail rides are fun on it like they are the rappy. If you are a smaller guy or girl (175lbs/5'10" or less) you will find the YFZ more comfortable but at 6'/225lbs+ the raptor will give you a nicer toy to ride.

Keep in mind that you can ride the Raptor all day long without any fatigue.... I sat on a YZF450 on the showroom & it hurt my A** instantly. That alone is not worth it & on top of that the suspension is very stiff.

The suspension is only stiff at slow speeds, and it's still not that bad......I'd rather hit braking bumps full throttle on a YFZ than a Rappy anyday, though - the YFZ soaks 'em right up instead of bouncing you out of your seat! But yes.....for trail riding, the Rappy would be way more comfy.....my seat always hurts my butt.....I actually get bruises sometimes after a race.....right on my bum!!!!

Shooooot ...... try the YFZ 450 without an airbox what a dif. yes you still need the cam mod and front 15 tooth sprok, and I don't see how you can take it in mud (MX) it's mainly a mod for sand hill draggin' .... but boy I tell ya ..... wooooooh.....
