Default Wiseco Crank

I want to put in a new Crank in my shee over the Winter I was going to go with the +4 Stroker Crank but now I think I want just the reguler Wiseco Crank with Hot Rod Connecting rods. Would I have to get it reported with the Wiseco Crank?

If you go with a stock length crank, you'll have to do nothing. If you get longer rods, you'll need some portwork for the timing and the airflow, same with the +4, standard rod.

Say what?

If you have no porting done now, and you put a stock stroke crank in your porting will stay the same. Regardless if you have a 110mm rod, 115mm rod, or 1000mm rod. You'll have to run 795 series pistons with the longrod, or a 5mm spacer plate under the cylinders. The spacer and rod length doesn't affect your port timing.

If you are ported for a +4mm stroker, chances are your porting will be too far off to run with a stock stroke crank. It really depends on how the +4 porting was set up and how wild it was. If it is a spacer plate setup with mild porting, lots of times the port timing will be good for stock stroke. If its a recessed dome motor, the porter would have had to lower the exhaust port and it will be way to low for a stock stroke.

Stock stroke is stock stroke. It doesn't matter if its a Wiseco crank, Yamaha crank, or any other brand. You won't need any different porting if its ported for stock stroke and your staying with stock stroke. If you go with a stroker crank, you will either need different porting with custom domes, or a spacer plate.

Those templates only raise the exhaust 1mm. You can put a +4 crank in it and be OK. They make a gasket kit (cometic) that has an extra thick head gasket to make up the 2mm difference on the top.

Basically, if you change the stroke length from what you have now, then your porting and port timing will be affected and might require a change.

If you have a stock crank and go to a +4, then your stroke will be different and therefore your port timing will be affected.

We've all pretty much said this but in different ways.

If you exhaust is in fact only raised 1mm, you can put the +4 crank in and use a spacer plate under the cylinders. Your exhaust timing will be around 194 if I remember correctly. This will be good for topend, although bottom will suffer slightly. On gas, it will be a good running motor. Transfer duration will be slightly high for alky.

I actually like to run the .063" plate from cometic with the base gasket (.015") from cometic's high compression top end kit. This way you can glue the plate down and the cylinders are easy to remove since you have a gasket.

Port match your upper case while its apart as well as the spacer plate. Its good for a couple HP.

194 is quite a bit for most people. Stock duration with the crank put in falls around 186 which is great for most applications and also keeps transfer timing within reason.
