Default Mounting the 424 switch (don't want to drill holes in my plastic)

I just finished installing a 424 on my wolverine. I chose not to mount the switch on the plastic. I don't have a front rack. I'm thinking about building a custom bracket that will allow me to attach it to the bars. Anyone tried this?

I would just mount it in the plastic but either way i dont know if putting it on the bars is a good idea because making a tight turn and having the cable pulled back and forth all the time you might not have the slack. I mounted mine to my plastic with no complaints. you can see it in one of the pics on my pic page

There is plenty of slack. I just need to fabricate a bracket.

It doesn't look bad mounted on the plastic, I just prefer not to drill holes if I don't have to.

.....OR, you could mount it like I did mine. I simply used the screw hole (longer bolt) which holds the plastic to the frame right under the bars. Solidly mounted and NO drilling. If you look on my photo page, middle pic, second row, you can get the idea.

I would try to use a billet aluminum brake line bracket mounted to the handle bars.

I used lotus's idea (the existing bolt hole) and it worked great. I'll take a pic and post it when have some time.

I used a piece of rubber fuel line to protect the plastic from the bottom of the bracket. I also filed the corner off the bracket to keep make it fit better. I used an assortment of flat washers to space the bracket away from the plastic and to make it level.

When steering full to the left, the black plastic handlebar cover just touches the cable adjuster on the 424. This will not cause a problem because the black plastic is flexible.

I highly recommend this mounting position.

some users say it shifts better under a slight load, thats why im unsure wherther to mount it on the left side or right side
