well the bombardier has better suspension and puts out more HP but is also heavier if u do allot of trail riding the raptor is prob the best pick but open spaces and the ds leaves it pretty good...i have heard allot of problems about the raptor trannys even the 04 raptor a friend has the tranny went in it not many problems with ds just minor little ones.

I would stay away from the 01 Raptor, especially if the tranny is the original. They tend to blow second,as myself and others on here have found out and there pretty expensive for the rebuild.(parts and labor)I got the Bomb after owning the Raptor and (now) I am alot happier.jmo

I have an 03 stock raptor that I have had for almost 2 years and have had no problems with it, and I ride fairly hard......trail, dirtpit, and even out playing on the mx track. I would however stay away from the 01 raptor as they did seem to have some tranny problems, but you can also still find a lot of 01 raptors still running fine on their original trannys. The bomb is also a good ride, its just heavier.....but it does have plusher suspension. If your not going to be doing any real duning or wide open riding I would go with the Raptor, JMO.

Stay away from the 01 raptor. My wife is a service manager and second gear is a major problem with that year and Yamaha said that there was no problem but they changed the tranny the next year. The bomb is very reliable-have 2 friends that jump the crap out of them and have never had a problem.

shift into reverse, and if it has problems or makes weird noises then ya its screwed....what i mean by shifting weird is like going into 2nd sometimes itll hit neutral, or shifting down doesnt actually feel like 5 4 3 2 1 u actually have to keep punching down on it...and if it shifts hard with a little clunk
