help with a headlight?
#1
Allow me to begin by saying that I know this belongs in a Kawasaki forum, but I'm getting no responses from those people. Since there are so many more of us here in the Yamaha forum, I thought someone may be able to help me.
Okay, I have a friend who has an '87 kx 125 dirtbike. He wants to mount a headlight on it from an unknown bike or quad. It looks alright when held up on it; it is attached with rubber straps like a 250R 3-wheeler. It matches up to his forks perfectly. Our problem is that on his machine there is only one wire coming from the ignition {magneto}, which is the hot going to the kill switch. The light has a ground, and two hots (I assume one for high and one for low). How can we get usable voltage out of this machine? We tried taking off the hot going to the kill switch, but when the light is connected it kills the engine. Is our goal possible, or is he just going to have to stick to riding in the daylight? Thanks.
