Maybe you should just start looking for a small utility trailer.

I can get my '96 warrior in the back of my S-10. It rides like crap in there, but it fits. I have a little room to work with, so i'm sure i can a raptor back there. It'll just be a tight fit. But just to give you a view of what my truck looks like and why it rides like crap with the warrior back there, go here: Pics of my truck

Well shumway did it fit?
We got my grizzly 600 to fit in the back of a standard bed ford ranger, now that was scary....You could see the headlights over the top of the cab, and the tires on either side (wich already had a whole bunch of air let out of them) where squeezed in there tight, but we got it to fit and drove it like that 3 miles.

My lil ol ranger, as well as my friends ranger, will hold his 400ex with offset (wider) front and rear wheels. Ofcourse you have to pick it up over the wheel wells, but it fits none the less.

I got an S-10 and I've been able to squeeze my Rappy and my YFZ in there with no problem at all (not together). I even have a truck box taking up 2 feet of the bed, just gotta leave the tail gate open and tie it in is all. I just set the front wheels on top of the wheel wells and tie it forward, never had one problem yet and I drive a distance to ride. I wouldnt even consider it a tight squeeze at all, maybe you should get rid of that ford

I would agree to the trailer idea, you don't have much room for gear in s-10's or rangers. A decent small trailer should only run around 500 or so.
