parking brake help plz!!

thanx every1 who clicked on this forum, i have a 2004 yamaha blaster. the parking brake is a life saver and i use it alot and i NEED it. but now when i put it on it rolls as freely s when it is in nuteral, why is that, how do i fix it?

sorry, i heard that a lot of yamaha parking brakes go out? actually mine did too on my 04 raptor 350. try taking it back to the dealer if its still under warrenty.

Don't Listen to her. Adjust it. All ya do is loosen a jamb nut and spin the long bolt in a lil bit and tighten the jamb nut back up. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] Piece of cake takes like 30 seconds.

Yeah i agree the parking brake is worthless. But its not hard to adjust it. You just have to do it everytime your ride [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

honestly, the parking brakes are junk
If you do keep them in adjustment (adjusting them every ride just about) you will go through so many pads (the brakes will drag and wear super fast)
The best advice is to get rid of the whole assembly and get a blockoff plate.
do a search under 'brakes' in the yammy forum for more info

Yeah there is really no help for the P-brake. I think they just put them on there so they can say it has one. I have owned 5 sport ATV's (1 Honda and 4 Yamaha's) and the only one that ever worked was the 98 blaster. It was a totally differerent setup from what the new ones have though (old drum brakes). Just get a block off kit and figure out how you can live without it

0ok well if i do take it off and get a block off plateis it hard to remove the p brake and install the plate? and can i leave it in gear for long periods of time when im not riding and hte machine is off?
