what filter kit for blaster?
#1
I need to replace my air filter on my blaster...its completely stock and i would rather get something for more power than keep replacing the factory filter. What is a good filter to go with? I will probably remove the airbox lid, but i don't want to totally lose the airbox since i ride in pretty wet areas. I know i will need to rejet, so what kits come with jets? I know this question has probably been asked before, but a search didn't really help.
thanks

If you ride in dusty areas I would say a UNI filter and non-dusty areas a K&N with an outwear cover. I would just buy a main jet from the cycle shop and begin with 2 to 3 sizes bigger and do a plug chop to get it dialed in correctly.

I spend most of my time in a dusty environment. Are most of the filters about the same as far as power gains are concerned? I probably should expect a little more low end from the filter upgrade, correct?

I'm not sure you will notice any gain by just changing the filter itself. The weak link in the system is the airbox itself and how much air it will let to the filter.
If you were to open your airbox...and get a more free flowing filter. Then you will notice some gain....But it will be lean unless you rejet.

I ride everywhere everyone else does with no filter or dust problems....
Just keep the filter oiled and the skin clean.

Use the Uni, they are quit and easy to clean and will dry in no time when setting in the sun, where as the K&N will have to sit overnight after cleaning, plus you can buy 2 uni's for less than the cost of a K&N and always have one oil and ready to replace the dirty one with no down time waiting for a filter to dry.

I knew it was between the UNI and the K&N. I hope to get a pipe and silencer in the spring and I really just don't like the idea of replacing stock filters til then...too bad i will end up rejetting twice...oh well.
