Throttle Swap
#1
I recently purchased my first quad. I previously rode street bikes and I CAN'T STAND THE THUMB THROTTLE!! I know there is a conversion kit to make it the twist throttle type. Has anyone ever done this and is it a good or bad idea or is it basically personal preference?

You can get a twist throttle kit for around 50-80 bucks from any major online atv shop or ebay. Some dealerships and motorsport part shops sell them as well but typically at a higher price.
I dont think you are going to like a twist grip on an atv, especially the raptor but it's your preference and I hope you find something you like.
Generally its a no no, most specifically on 4 stroke engines with lots of low end, as a slip of the throttle can cause loss of control very easily in a trail or other locale.
But some people swear by their twists, so I would try it out and make up your mind from there.

Motion Pro has exatcly what you are looking for. They have many different kits aviable in different styles. Some require lots of movment, while others, such as the "vortex" style only require 1'' to be wide open. You can basically choose one to suit your needs.
I installed a twist on my blaster and hated in for the first couple of weeks. However after that I could never go back to a thumb throttle. I find I have way more control because I have a better grip on the bars. Like maddog said, Its a preference thing. Some people like it, and some hate it. If you decide to get one you might not like it right off the bat, but give it a while.
