I didnt think of it earlier but maybe big bore carbs dont atomize fuel as well? for instance, even a big block dragster dosent have a 1 barrel carb though it would flow better because of less surface area. Maybe they figured theyd get more efficency over using 1 big carb.

Itallion im with ward so it's ok that info is wrong, I run a 48Hv Lectron single carb and it flat out rips from top to bottom, hope i get a chance see you guys at glamis so you can check out my setup, ward is the first to go single and i am expermenting with this diffrent single carb setup , my friend sixsixt and I asked the same question about 2 carbs, so we tryed the diffrent set up.....So far i have not had any problem on topp end and doubted the flow myself, but after dyno runs that is the least of the worries of my set up.....

Did Yamaha ever issue a statement on why the Raptor 660 has dual carburetors and dual exhaust pips coming off the head since it has only one piston? I have never seen anything like it. I realize I'm a little late to this post but a friend bought a 2004 Raptor 660 and stored it with old gas for 3 years and is paying me to tune it up. I unclogged the carbs which took all day to remove, clean and reinstall including empty the gas tank.
