What year is this Banshee?

I am looking at buying a used banshee from a friend. He can't find the title right now, and isn't sure if it is a 1991 or 1992. Is there anyway to tell by looking at the serial number or something? Thanks!

I think it's the eighth number from the right on the frame. I believe M is 91 and N is 92. A Yamaha dealer can tell you for sure though.

N stands for 2001 model so a 91 or 92 model would be a D or an E. My dealer told me this.

was 91 the first year for A-arms or last year for J-arms? if its 91 was last year then check and see if it has J-arms if it dont then its newer.

Stock plastic? if so, what color? My 91 is gey with a blue tank. I think some 92's are turqoise and white
