he should be able to keep with you
it all depends how both of you ride
when I ride my KX250 my buddy has a KX500
he leaves me in the dirt but we always keep an eye on each other
when riding. accidents happen and its good to know that somebody
is not to far wawy from you to help

Is the KX 100 a 2 or 4 stroke? The 05 YZ 125 is the best 125 out there. I just read a couple awesome reviews in Dirtrider and Motocross magazines. I think it would take another 125 to keep up with the YZ, but it all depends on experience. The 125 is faster than the 100, but not if you can't ride it.

If you are talking a drag race, he could keep up if he is smaller, and knows how to ride better than you(you should still win by like 2-4 bike lengths). If you are just riding/racing in any other way, the better rider should win.
Get the 250 four stroke, unless you are a die hard 2 stroker.
It may sound like a small difference just being 25cc, but the 100s and under rarely get updated, and the big toys get updated every year.
