my friend has an 04 raptor. it is really nice. but he has had major issues. first the crank went out and destroyed it. he took it to the dealer and they rebuilt it for free under warranty. he got it back 3 days later and rode till it blew up again. had to do with the piston pretty much evaporating. this was the dealers fault. They rebuilt again free of charge. gets it back after another 3 days the tranmission broke. im not very sure on the technical malfunctions jsut that the wheeler was "blown up" so u couldnt ride it. now the wheeler is at the shop adn i guess he owes them 270 bucks for taking the motor apart the last time cuz the dealer thought it was my friends fault. which it wasnt. so now the brand new wheeler is at teh shop all apart. waht shoud my friend do? is this classified as a lemon? the dealer has been no help and does not know how to properly assemble the four wheeler together. it was purchased at nescos in governeur, ny.

Lemon laws typically specify 3 major instances to be eligible. I would try and get a new bike or credit towards another bike in the amount of the purchase price of the raptor he bought. If they wont help try talking to yamaha directly.

my friend cant get any help now. he went to the attorney general and he said that it was his fault the motor blew up because he switched the tires to smaller than stock. if this was true then y didnt the dealer tell him the tires would cuz his engine to blow up since the tires were bought at the dealer and even installed there. he emailed yamaha and i dont believe it but he says yamaha said it was between him and the dealer. has anyone been int his situation?

Gotta love that...
You will end up spending more on lawyers than it will cost to fix it, so you might as well get it fixed on your dime. Thats what yamaha is banking on and thats what is going to happen.
But I would be on the dealership hardcore. I havent been in this situation personally, so maybe someone can chime in and give you some good advice.
Bump for some help for the guy.
