It has been there since I got the bike and it never really bothered me, I just thought I would ask if anyone else knows what it is. When you lug the motor in a high gear at slow speeds you can kinda hear this Metal slapping noise comming from the engine its not horrible but you can hear it. it goes away as soon as you add rpm. Sorry it's so vague i just can't explain it anymore than that. Anyone know, is that just that way it is? Thanks for the Help!

 

I think it is a regular noise almost every YFZ has, I was frequent at yfz central, and they were concerned about it and found out everyone heard it, and never ran into problems.

 

im pretty sure every chain drive quad will do that, my blaster does that, i think its normal.

Its normal my 98 and my bro in laws 2000 does the same thing. Northing to worry about.

tighten your chain and it will go away!!!

 

Every YFZ I've ridden has the same problem, along with getting the chain in spec, the bottom roller ball is not flat and it does not contact with the chain real well, so score a slightly larger MSR roller or something like that helps big time! it has worked on the 3 YFZ's that I ride with.
