Default blaster question

i was wondering what the stock horsepower of a blaster is. im thinking about buying one because they are so damn cheap and two strokes are so easy to repair. i can get a 98 for 1100 dollars. i heard they are pretty quick, i just want to know if it'll be faster than my 04 z250.

only if you truly know the stock hp respond

The answer sounds too small to imagine the fun you can have on a Blaster. 17hp is stock. I recently aquired an 02 and it flies like the wind, doesnt really leave me wanting more. I like the wider gearing of my 250R trikes better but the Blaster is a quick and fun ride. Numbers don't mean a thing if you don't enjoy the ride.

Default blaster question

thats low for a two stroke engine. my z250 has 17.3 hp stock....and its a 4....however i am in love with 2 stroke engines and i know i can make it way faster, so i am going to buy one. before i bought my cr250 2 stroke i had a cr125 and it had like 40 some hp stock, so i know i can make the blaster 30hp easily through engine work.

how does everyone like their blasters....suspension? acceleration? handling? also does anyone have like a 97 or 95 somewhere in there. i know they havent changed much but i want to see if anyone likes that year because that is the year range ill be purchasing most likely.

acceleration is very good on a blaster..suspension is kinda crappy from the factory well there is no kinda about it the suspension is crappy from the factory. Handeling is very good with a set of spacers in front in back. Mine is a 03 but the engine hasn't changed a bit. The blaster has about the same amount of ponies from the factory as your 250 but the blaster is a 6 speed. It goes threw the gear's pretty fast. like i said b4 with a good acceleration pipe like lrd it's like injecting your blasty with steroid's. Only thing bad about the older model blaster's is the poor brake system.

Default blaster question

Well I had a blaster for about a week and a half, it is a 99’ in good shape, I had to buy a new rear brake cable but that was about it. I got the bike, a parts bike (shocks, rims bearing factory pipe, motor (taken apart), and a shoei helmet, I paid $1200 I thought this was fair, would like input on your opinions. Over all I really like it so far compare to the 4x4 bikes I usually ride, I think the suspension is fine, but haven’t got more that about 3 feet of air so far. From what I can tell the only extra’s on the motor is a DP pipe. I can mention that when I got on a feeder road the other night I was barely passing cars on the highway; I’m assuming they were going around 65. Compared to my old 200 kdx, the blaster seems to go through the gears a lot faster, not sure if this is good or bad yet.

Does any one know how much it cost to hop up the carb a little, and do you have to change your oil ratio if you do? And will this even help with performance if a pipe is the only engine mod I have so far?

I love my blaster. It is an extremely peppy quad with great acceleration. I have a 2000 so the brakes are terrible lol. As for the suspension, if you are planning on jumping alot you should get some better suspension, I bottom out frequently at 145lbs. But i do some pretty good jumps too.

Also Dustyabsher- you may have gotten this already but in order to change gears with the clutch you let off the gas, pull in the clutch gear up or down, let out the clutch again then give it gas. The pattern is one down, five up.

actually for shifting you dont nessicarily have to use the clutch and you dont need to let off the gas if you do. i can drive along in 2nd keep half throttle shift into 3rd with gas on let out the clutch and my front end pops right up but thats if ya wanna wheelie
