Default piston hitting middle valve

garyc660r - i think the engine timing was alright because it was running, later in the day, it started making the noise, unless the timing got out of adjustment then, i will call the mechanic and tell them what you told me..

440grl - did you ever find the cause to the problem? when you got the new top end, did it fix the problem of hitting or did you have to do something to correct it for the new top end?

maddog56 - are all the valves stems the same length?, i thought only the diameter is different, stock 30mm, 31mm, etc. just curioius., if the length are different, maybe i can try a smaller one...

Fourjs - no....we are working on getting it all back together right now.......we are hoping we can figure out what happened with this new top-end......it will be a week or two before it's up and running. Let me know what you find out about yours, too.......

I agree with WISTECH or you may have gotten a defective piston. I would check the rod also.

SixSixT hit in on the nail "ROD". The first time I tore mine down to go 686, Craycraft measured the wrist pin area and it was .005 out of round. Mine also before I tore it down was making a knocking noise. I can't remember though if the piston was hitting a valve.
With a stage two cam there should have been a change of double valve springs per valve...

fourjs I am trying to plan I trip up their to Kermit in Feb. or March of next year. Lets go riding!!!!!
