Ok, I know I probably need to do this myself so I can tune it and learn my machine but I am thinking of being a weenie and just having the dealer do it .. I also want to get it done so I can ride soon
My exhaust should be in soon and will install it and my Pro-flo filter but not looking forward to jetting it. What exactly is involved. Looks like taking off the fenders, gas tank, etc. but how much work is this ??? Do I have to remove the carbs or can I get to the main jets without ??? Huuum, just pay someone or do it myslef ... I am not really a "tuner" so it it runs good I am not going to try and get it "perfect" and/or test for the best possible ?????

At bluetaxx I'm not sure if thats the name of the site, but some one on the raptor forum has a sticky post at the top that tells you how to do it and has pictures, I thought it was hard, but now that I saw that I think I'm going to do it myself.

Its not hard, just time consuming. One you get the fenders and tank off your right there. You just have to disconnect some hoses to the carb, then you can turn the carb over in the bike and go at it. I have a maintenace manual on the raptor in .pdf. Let me know if you need it.

Removing the front fenders is not necessarry. They will flex outward enough to slip the tank out. You will have to take the front grille off and take the two rear (front) fender bolts out first though.

Jetting is really easy. Buy Dynojet.. they include step by step instructions on how to jet. If you ever get it dont at the dealer then demand the Jet kit and your stock needles after you get it back!!! Believe me i did it.. you have to have some mechanicle experience. Its easy when you are there.. common sence!!!

I've jeted so many times it is second nature to me, it only takes about 10 min to get it apart then you pull off the carbs and change the jets, put the carbs on and just the tank, then try it. After that go do it again untill you find the main jets that work best at wide open throttle, then try the pilots that sound the best at idle with the air fule screws 2 1/2 turns, then put it all together and ride it for awhile to check your plug for all around riding. if it stumbles or has problems around 1/4 to 3/4 throttle you will need to adjust the clip on your needles. This might sound like alot but try to tell someone excatly how to lace up and tie a shoe and it sounds like alot more than it is, but once youve done it a few times it is a snap. It will only take you about 45 min from start to finish, thats if you change the main jets a few times.
