Default Alky Go Kart.

I know this is a quad forum, but I have a question. ( a go kart is sort of a quad) My friend and me have an old 5 hp briggs and straton engine go kart, if we drained the gas and rain it on rubbing alky the 85% stuff, what would happen this it would work?

THanks,

MIke.

I would think you would have to raise the compression, maybee to 13:1 to accept alky!

you would have to change the jetting or in your case adjust the carb
but the alky will eat the seals inside the carb

but to tell you the truth it sounds dangerous to me but post your results

you have to have a sepcially moded carb to run alky.... you also have to have a high comp piston and a REALLY well built engine...

I don't plan on doing anyhting to this go kart, except I can adjust the carb, I don't car if the engine dies I just want to know if it would work and if I would get more power.

Thanks,

MIke.

that would be pretty sweet if you could get it to work but i think there are a few problems with it, an old brigs and straton gokart engine is most likely runing on a very low compression, alky needs to be run at a very high compression because it has such high octaine, even if you could get enough feul into the engine i doubt that it would ignite and even if it did ignite that old engine probably wont be able to handle it for very long.
