2005 Kodiak 450-Reliable??
#2
Well I can tell you that I just got one and me and my friend who owns a Artic Cat 400 4X4 went out in the woods to play. Well we came to this mud hole and he decided he would go through it. Well needless to say he got stuck half way through. He gave the ol winch a workout. My turn. Ok so I put it in low 4X4 lock the diff.... And basically started going. This thing just clawed it way through. I don't even think the tires ever lost grip. He wasn't happy about that. As for reliable well its new and from reading other peoples reviews they have been very reliable. Only problem is a squeaky rear brake for some which tend to go away over time. Oh ya when we were in the woods I loved how this thing could turn tightly. It is very nimble. I don't think you could get a better combination

don't pay attention to that damn(05 problems irs 450 kodiak) thread. they're whining about some simple azz problems. look at some real troubles like the brute force has had it's first year and the owners didn't start some endless thread like the 05 kodiak problems thread!!!! go ahead and buy a kodiak, you'll love it.

you know, that thread is nice, even if they are just small complaints, we have a good bunch of guys willing to help each other out.... but hey, did i forget that this is a message board... oh yeah, most people don't like to help each other, and at least WE DO.

well the synthetic rope is AMAZINGLY stronger.... Well for the winch the 2.5c or 2500 Lbs winch that comes with the kodiak, has 3/16" steel rope, which can handle 4,000 Lbs, it stretches, it kinks, it frays....... and list goes on....
Now for Synthetic, for the same size 3/16", it can hold 5,400 pounds before breaking point, it doesn't stretch, doesn't kink, comes with a 5ft sliding sheath to protect the rope from fraying... but it always could happen.... it is lighter, it floats on water..... it is amazing stuff.... also you can get the synthetic rope in 1/4" which is 1/16" more(of course), and it can hold an AMAZING 9,400 pounds!!!! comparied to 7,000 pounds of 1/4" steel....
