Only use oils specifically for wet clutches. As far as the weight I live in Michigan and have never had a problem running the same oil weight year round. I believe it was the same yamalube or eqivalent weight as you listed.

I think 20-40 is to heavy for cold weather. If most of your cold weather starting will be below 32degrees than I would go with at least 10W30 Yamaha Lube or even better their CW5W30 yamalube(CW stands for Cold Weather). Basically that will give the engine better protection at startup and still have protection once its heated up. Also it will make cold starting easier if you use the lower weighted oil. But if you plan on doing full throttle racing mainly then you would prob be fine with 20W40. I would probable only use that weight in summer when its hot out. Just my thoughts from reading tons of info on different oils. Now granted people have different options and you won't really hurt your ATV using any of those but different outside temps call for different weighted oils.

I agree 100% Bosch! And you know what? In my Kodiak 450 manual they recommend all three weighted oils. Again they recommend the different weight oil for different temps. Thats why for cold weather I recommended the 5W30 like the manual does
