05 Raptor 660 Clutch toasted
#1
Hey guys just wondering if anyone has had any probelms with there 05 Raptor clutches. Here is my probelm. I just bought a 05 raptor 2 weeks ago and it has 4 rides on it totaling no more than 5 hours on the machine. Went riding a few days ago and the clutch stopped working all togther. So I managed to do some emergency adjustments on the clutch. After an hour of messing with this thing I finally go the clutch to work right and get me back to the truck which was an hour ride back. So I took the bike back to the Yamaha dealer and the tech said they would check it out and Yamaha might not cover the clutch inder warranty??????
Well I just got a call from the guy and he said my clutch was smoked???? SO he had to replace it!!!!!!!!! This quad has 5 hours on it and the clutch is shot out already. Anybody have any experience dealing with warranty issues like this. This fix is going to cost me 250. bucks.

Occurding to the tech the clutch plates got hot and stuck together causing the whole clutch to fry. But what gets me is that this thing is so new. I was thinking it was out of adjustment when I bought it. When I picked it up the clutch did'nt feel right. There was no free play in the lever. The saleman insisted it was fine. It was brand new and would works itself out. YEah it worked itself out alright.

Do NOT take no for an answer on this from the dealer! If you let them they will walk all over you. You warned them it didn't feel right so they need to stand behind their sale 100%. If they don't you need to raise a stink that will be heard in the next county and at their busiest hours. Don't leave that dealer again until you are made right by them and that means not one penny out of your pocket. Yell, get mad , get pissed and let EVERYBODY in the place know how you feel, you'll be surprised how quickly they will change their tune. It was their responsibility to make sure that bike goes out the door in proper adjustment.
