All day Saturday and Sunday there were 3 ratpors
at our riding spot.
Two of them wont race cause they said they were chicken. Ok that was fine with us. The third guy was going around itching for a race. So my buddy hops on his Banshee. I thought he was gonna eat dirt but no way all 3 time he beat the raptor.
The next day I'm with another set of buds we are all on our Banshees and were talking about the Raptors. We all see the other 2 guys taking it easy on their new raptors. Finally a guy pulls up with his new Raptor. We all gawked at hit and exchanged laughs. Finally it was time to race.
Now this new guy is experienced racer. So is my bud with his Banshee.
The holeshot Banshee beats him by several lengths.
Then we saw the Raptor mid power range kick in and buzzed right by the Banshee.
What a day it was I seen in person what all the hype is about.
I will keep my Banshee and wait till next year when Yamaha works out all the gremlins. But overall I was impressed and the sound of that machine is awsome in the distance you can definitly tell a Raptor is coming through the trails.

 

Were the Banshee's stock or modified?

 

They were modoified of course. I already know they dont stand a chance stock.
Not many mods though. pipe,booster bottle,pro air filters. and that is about it.

 

There is no way a raptor beat a banshee around the track and the banshee had pipes. Unless the raptor handles way, way better that the 400ex. In a dirtwheels mag they had a test of the banshee vs. polaris4oo vs. 400ex and it said the banshee carved a faster lap time and in anouther atv sport they said they were able to do bigger jumps using the banshees' explosive power band. So if the raptor beat it ( hard to belive) I would still rather race a smaller 2-stroke machine. What are you going to race against on the raptor? Other big bore four strokes. Bombardier has the only other big bore four stroke. VOTE BUSH!!!

 

What am I missing here? The post is entitled, "Raptor dusted by Banshee", but other than getting the holeshot, you say, "Then we saw the Raptor mid power range kick in and buzzed right by the Banshee."

Is this post supposed to be telling us that you saw a Raptor beat a Banshee, or a Banshee beat a Raptor? Don't take this the wrong way, I'm just wanting someone to clarify this for me.

I know what he is saying exactly. Hes saying...their first impression was that the RAptor would dust the Banshees ( and these Banshees "are" modified). During this race...the Mod'd Banshees won. Then, an experienced rider with a "stock" Raptor stepped up - and since the Banshees won before, they figured ..sure we'll race. But they didnt realize that this guy could actually ride a quad. The race started, and the Raptor "BLEW" by the Banshee through the mid-range. And the guy that made this post, sat there and watched, as MOD'd Banshees got beaten by the stock Raptor, and now he's all excited that the hype was true.

Nicksatv - you should have titled this. Modded Banshee's got beat by Stock Raptor.

I worded the title the way it was to get a little attention drawn to it.
Hear is what I saw....I saw a modded Banshee beat the Raptor in the holeshot by several lengths.
Both riders are class A riders.
The power of the raptor kicks in 3rd gear and the guy on the raptor said 1st and 2nd gear was poor.
He said he never took it out 3rd while the Banshee guy was still shifting 4th - 6th the raptor was still in 3rd.
So I saw time and time again the Banshee beat the raptor hole shot which I when I raced expert class jetskis that is what really counted!
Then time and time again I saw the raptor beat the banshee on top end.
So tell me how I should have said the title without making a several sentences long.
The flame suit is on. Sheeees nothing like getting a bunch heat from other Yammy owners. I mean You Raptor guys should not even compare the 2 machines. Like that shootout in that magazine.
They are 2 different machines.

 

You know that's funny even Dirtwheels said the Banshee has the strongest topend of the two machines but you are saying the Raptor beat it on topend. If these Banshee's had pipes and were jetted right the only thing the Raptor guy would see would be a cloud of dust in his face.
