hey all. Is the oil tank in front of the motor the only place to fill up oil? I dont know how much my Tranny is filled with oil... on my oil cooler, the dipstick is about 2inch past the full mark.. .please help me out, first 4-stroke. thanks!

 

That is the only place to fill the oil. The motor and tranny share oil so, don't worry about the level in the tranny. It will fill to the appropriate level. Thanks, Matt

 

you have to drain the oil tank,,,and the plug under the shifter on the bottom of the case

change the filter

replace plugs (carefully tighten the oil tank plug,,,some people have had trouble with the bottom cracking)

fill the tank till its full,,,,and start the motor to let it cycle thru the motor

cycle and add oil till the dipstick reads full (about 2 quarts)(checking the oil after the motor has been run)

I like to check the screw in the camshaft plug on the right side of the motor when I am finished to be sure that oil is circulating in the topend. (loosen the 8mm hex screw until oil leaks out (about 1/2 turn),,,,if it does your good)

Thanks for all the repleys its been very helpfull. one last thing, what weight oil are you putting in your rappy's? its about 20 Degrees here if it makes a difference.
