replacing balance pipe on banshee

lost my balance pipe can i replace it with an ordinary piece of rubber hose and do boost bottles do anything

Boost bottle supposdly adds a little more zip to your throttle, other then that i doubt it does anything.

the boost bottle is supposed to help throttle response and the lowend. dont know if they really work though...
