Default Griz maintence question

Hello -
I'm new to the forum and thinking about buying an 05 Griz. I'm not much good with a wrench. How much maintence am I in for? How often to the valves need to be checked / adjusted? In short - what will I be needing to take it to the dealer for?

Anybody had problems with the belt?
Thanks!
Roadie

Default Griz maintence question

I have an 04 Grizz with 650 miles on it. I've checked the valves twice so far and they didn't need to be adjusted. As far as the belts.....My buddy got a Sportsman the same week I got my Grizzly, We ride together almost all the time and he has gone through 2 belts and mine's still good. Hope that helps!!

If you take care of it, you will have it for a long time.
This goes for any 4x4.

Just do regular maintenance on it and you should be good for a long time.

Default Griz maintence question

1000 miles on the original belt and breaks. No Problems that I didn't cause. I am putting alot more torque than stock and everything is holding up well.

Default Griz maintence question

Roadie,
I know you want to hear from those who've owned their 05 Grizzleys longer than I have but here's my 2 cents worth.
I own the '05 black and silver ed. I looked at everthing and I mean everything for months. I've been on the many forums reading all I could. Choices came down to the new Suzuki KQ and the Grizz.
I was nervous about 1st year issues with the KQ and the Grizz has their early problems worked out. Grizz owners and non Grizz owners speak highly of this machine. If they hadn't, it wouldn't be in my garage - plus the fact that I really like everything about the Grizzly. Before purchasing, I spoke directly to at least 6 owners of 05's and they said very good things about reliability and minimal maint. I know zip about maintenance and finally bought this machine mainly for it's solid reliability reputation.
Lastly, be sure to ride the machine, UP, DOWN and around before purchasing. I did. That clinched it. Then make sure you've got a dealer that will back you up. Mine's been very helpful and met every promise made, one he didn't have to.
I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I am SO glad I got a Grizz and not one of the other bikes I was considering.
Good luck Roadie.

Thanks for your responses! They've been helpful. Sounds like the Griz is a great machine. Thanks again,
