Raptor just clicks after hotcam install.

I helped my friend install a stage 1 hotcam last night. Now when he starts it some of the time it clicks (like the battery is dead), and others it fires up llike it should. Never had this before the install. Also, It seems to run fine.
I did a search, I see a lot about the decompression pin. Would it run normal if this was in wrong?

yea my vinson does the same thing, the piston is at the top of the compression stroke, and has to much compression to start effectively by the started, get the engine to bdc, and then do it it will fire ever time.

I saw your post on the other forum. When you put the decompression mechanism back on the end of the cam, are you sure the little pins were inside the grooves on the weights? If you pull open the weights, the inner ring should turn freely.

You need to be sure that the pins are alligned properly with the conterweights.
I just had this very problem after my one-way went out and locked the bottom end at about 40.
your engine is not decompressing when you try and start it......,,,,and if it does start,,,,,you should hear a clack, clack, clack which would be the pin slapping the rocker as the engine revs
you will eventually cook your starter if you keep trying to fire it
its a simple fix

Yes I pulled the weights out to line the groves up.
Are you talking about the shaft that the plunger rides on?

I tore it apart today, and evrything is correct. It is also starting good now(dont know). The valves/rockers seem to make quite a bit of noise. There all at hotcams spec.
