ask kory ellis how he liked it. this is from an article when the yfz came out:
yfztest

"As a motocrosser, I was happy to shed some weight but found one problem along the way. Although the motor starts easy enough with the kick starter, I have to admit, I grew a little attached to starting the quad with my thumb. I'll even openly admit that I stalled the quad at the YFZ's debut at Mt. Morris but since it had the electric start at the time, I fired it up instantly and only lost about one second of time. Not to mention, we only saved about seven pounds of weight, so I'm not so sure if this mod is such a hot set up or not."

you can take korys word for it or not. just thought it was an intersting take from a pro.

i know i would rather have estart. so why did i buy a 450R?...good question! sometimes i wish it had it!

I work at a yammi dealership, selling parts, we've done this a half dozen times. Yopu end up shaving off 12 pounds is all.

The zilla is a top end monster! The ds650 and raptor 660 both have a higher top speed than the yfz450 in stock trim.

Ive never read so much bad information in one thread. Do you guys even know what the hell you are talking about?

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RUN THE ELECTRIC START WITH THE KICKER

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RUN THE KICKER ONLY

YOU WILL NOT LOSE 20 LBS

You should quote the person you THINK is giving bad info. The conversions we did, we removed the electric starter all together. We did shave off 12 pounds. The machine was weighed on a pad before and after. Why is this bad information?

^^^^ yeah, I dont see were any bad information is given smart guy. What you said was a bland paraphrase of what everyone else has said. Change that damn icon of yours too. Why is the yfz-450 in the corner of your icon.

Take it easy on hims guys. There was A LOT of wrong info in this thread from the get go. There have been wrong numbers given for the amount of weight you actually lose. And someone said you cannot have both the e-start along with the kicker. For him to quote everyone that didn't give facts would have taken him all day.

The people that are guessing at their answers are the ones that should be scolded IMO.

Wrong! Not all "racing" quads are kick start.

you HAVE to take the electric start off to put the kickstart on...
You guessed it. Another wrong answer. Lots of people run the electric start just fine with the kicker as a backup.
