When a nitrous system is put together correctly and you don't run your motor to the extreme lean when using it you are fine; just dont run a HUGE shot try to keep with in a reasonable ammount in junction with your HP. How ever it is a GOOD "GOOD" (GOOD) idea to have an after market piston, better valves, & port work done prior for a wet system.

I don't know what your talking about D3athShad0w, but 30-40 sec periods of boost is more than enough to probably blow your engine, from the homework that I did I heard you should shoot for more then 10-12 secs at most at a time, besides what drag race lasts 40 secs.

My personal ideas of nitrous is mixed. I would love to have that power at the touch of a button and its probably the best power for the dollar if you compare it to other mods, but you probably don't really need it unless your a pure drag racer. Personally I don't know what you should do, but I don't think its worth spending that much money on something to prove some guys, and besides, the answers you will get is "oh its cause you got spray". On top of it, you really have to have someone that knows what they are doing tune it, or otherwise you can mess your engine up good.

One more thing, what would you accomplish besides completely owning someone if you use nitrous. You don't have a fast quad you just have a bottle of nitrous.

Its cool and all but its kinda a cheap way to beat some one.

That was entirely my point... I was saying that a bottle (aprox 1.3 - 1.6 Lbs on a quad) would last about 30 - 40 seconds (five 7 second hits). Thus if you have the capability to run that long with it (boost limitations are based on temperature and fuel delivery) you will be GONE and win the race. Nitrous contrary to popular belief is not a motor killer if it is setup correctly and used right; however it’s when you lean your motor out to much by using it, cool/heat the motor to much, run stock weak parts with heavy shots, or otherwise incorporate idiocy with the install and use that it damages things. To correctly install a nitrous system it should be done by people who know wtf they are doing, have common sense to use a sensible boost in relation to the bikes actual HP, and done on a dyno hooked up to several sensors to determine proper jetting and any performance issues… Personally I feel that a wet system on an ATV is much more safe then a dry and damages lots less.

Yes you should not spend the money to impress anyone; do it for yourself… The raw power that nitrous enables is incredible though and can be used in other instances other then dragging…

So I suppose all street cars, super sport bikes, and other race vehicles cheat when they use turbo and nitrous systems as well. There is raw displacement and then there is newer technology method to creating that power and getting up and going. Nothing is stopping anyone else from putting a system like that on HP is HP, its not some elite cheat code you enter that no one else has - speed is speed my friend. OH I am not saying its not the best way to go for the speed on any vehicle. Besides turbos aren't the same as nitrous, thats constant, nitrous temporary. I'm just saying out of not the racing/tech standpoint but out of morals and ethics. You hear everyone is like oh if I get nitrous I will school everyone and so on. You get some stock honda or w/e that some kid got to look like a badass drops nitrous in it and school some people. Brags about it and so on, what does he accomplish, blowing so guy aways yes, but he doesn't have a fast car, hes got nitrous.

When your a true racer its different. It must be that I have my mind set that everyone who gets nitrous trys to show off and be the fastest.(but that is what its like in highschool) If you were to have a fast *** car, with multiple bolt ons and you have nitrous, I lay my hat down to you but. But some people that think they are paul walker and just get nitrous to seem badass, then thats just plain stupid.

Ya man I hear you on that and agree from that point of view, I’m talking from an already performance modded stand point. I think its stupid when people slap nitrous on a vehicle just to be fast and use that by itself - My quad isn’t exactly a stock putter. Here im talking racing modded quads (some have nitrous) and running a race using all your motor power and hitting the nitrous at the right moments to win. My quad isn’t exactly a stock putter.
