spectro 4 atv oil?
i was doing research on oil a while back, and the results were shocking!amsoil, mobil 1, on top.motorcycle oils were tested and the spectro came out below regular castrol 10/40 !just thought i would let you know because of the price difference.most so-called motorcycle oils are no better than car oils.some are better against thermal breakdown.just use good car oil and change every 3 or 4rides and you will be fine.my 2 stroke gets new oil every 2 good rides-good insurance, oil is cheap gears are not!also on the 2-strokers ,my experiance has been to stay away from synthetics(clutch slippage). got a roll-over to prove it !hope this helped

Ahhh I found it - Yes Spectro and Honda HP4 did come out on the bottom but they were compared to 2 types of Synthetic oils & a Castrol regular motor oil. What seems to be interesting is that the Regular motor oil Castrol GTX outperformed the motorcycle oils (not by a huge margin). All regular petroleum based oils were with in 4% of each other though so the bottom end for Spectro & Honda isn’t on the deep end. Now the question comes down to using Castrol GTX as your ATV oil!? Hmmmm.... Very curious ?

The reason for that is that in a motorcycle you can't use friction modifiers like in a car. Automobile oil has all sorts of additives to make it flow better, reduce wear, cling ti metal better, etc. A motorcycle can't use those do to the wet clutch, those modifiers would make the clutch slip.
