Enough!!! All I hear about is the raptor, well, it seems the DS is faster in a paved straight line, but the raptor in the woods will do circles and backflips on the DS. The only truly all around ATV would be one that came with an erector set with it that you could build a 4x4 with, make a jumping bike extrodinaire, make a bullet bike, make a sandbox racer, and make a trail blaster. Until then, there is no perfect quad. Just ones we like very much and are willing to go to battle over for no apparent reason. I like my DS, but get trounced on by a 250R Suzuki in the woods. A 250!!!. My two cents, thank you and please keep all comments coming.

you actually were a Mojave owner? Im so Sorry. Im glad you like your DS, But i have ridden one and your right in the woods its the raptor all the way but other quads have thier niche so, the DS is fun in the sand box. DS BS is what im tired of hearing, You people should be thankful you have a proven austrian built engine, even though the canadian build of the rest of your machine seems to suffer engineering flaws.

Yup, just like when the DS was released, everyone was buzzing about it.

I'm glad not everyone out there is "Brand Sensitive". I like my Honda, but I "had" to have the Raptor. My wife rides Polaris, and I have friends with Kawi's, Big Boy's Toys are made by all types of people.

Now hopefully, the Raptor will force inovation, and bleeding edge technology out of R&D and into proof of concept stages.

Keep that helmet on and Ride SOBER!

I test rode a DS when they first came out. I loved it. I go to Pennsylvania once a year to do some major fire road riding, and I was considering buying one. 99% of my riding is tight woods though, and I couldn't justify the $7200 they were asking just to use it a couple times a month, plus, I already had two quads. I would like a Raptor though, reverse is definately on my must have list for my next quad. I still love it when I'm riding with one of my buddies on his EX, and he has to dismount to push the quad backwards.

I'm glad that there is all this excitement over a new high performance quad. It gives the other companies something to strive for. People that rag on the Raptor are just jealous they don't have one. I am still gonna wait for the second year machine.

If you cant stand hearing about the Raptor dont step into a Yamaha forum. This is exciting news for Yamaha fans, it should be for *all* ATV fans because this quad will further innovation from every manufacturer.

No longer will they consider this a delicate market to be in, they will develop new ATVs and we will all ride them. We all love ATVs, but please dont step into someone else's forum and start up with people.

Best Regards,

Have you read 1 or 2 postings about the DS being faster in a straight line and assume that the DS "is" faster in a straight line? Have you raced A "half-dozen" Raptors and know for sure that this is true?

It seems to me, that everyone is racing Raptors that aren't even broken in. The real test will come when some people have them broken in, and ready to pounce, full throttle....

I agree, mine seems to run better every time I ride it. Hopefully, no-one has permanately lost compression in their new 660CC engine by getting in the throttle too early.

First of all, I think the DS650 and the Raptor are both ground breakers, which raised the bar for ATVs. How much of a difference in speed will the break in period affect? Are we talking 2-5mph or more/less?

Thanks,
j/t

It could actually have a big differance in performance. Also, why would you spend that kind of money on something, and take a chance at ruining it. All of the Raptor owners waited this long for their quads, why not treat it right.
