Default Raptor Forum?

Hello,

I'm trying to get some guesstimate of what I need to use inorder to jett my 04 Raptor for the parts I have bought and I do not want to keep taking up thread space on here. I have tried to post it a couple times but I guess no one has the set up I am trying to run. Is there any raptor specific forums? I have tired many times to search on google and other search engines and have had no luck finding a raptor specific forum to try and answer my set up question. Any help would be awesome.

Very Respectfully,
Josh Adams

You're in the right spot, the Yamaha forum. You need to tell us exactly what is already done to the bike, what you are installing, what jetting you currently have, which types of jets you are using, your airbox/airfilter setup, and your altitude and then we can give you a good idea of where to start. But you will still have to tweak the jetting from there.

no problem. I just did not want to keep reposting stuff. I had already done it twice on here and did not want to keep bothering everyone. I already did a search on here and no one had my set up. So there are no raptor specific forums like there are for the YFZ like yfz central.com etc.?

Here is the post from earlier today. Hope this helps....the only thing I need to update is that I found out that I am about 360ft above sea level! Thanks again!

Everything in bold is from me from the last post.

Hello,

I am recently a new owner of a long awaited saving for a 2004 Black Raptor. It has been appropriately broken in and I bought a GYT-R cotton Air Filter and GYT-R Jet Kit. I plan to run it with no air box cover and a K&N "sponge" Pre-filter over the GYT-R cotton Filter to reduce heavy dirt being sucked in. All the parts are bought and have been sitting in my garage forever. I think I'm finally ready to tackle the project but I am worried about what, 2 mains and pilot jets, I'm suppose to use out of the GYT-R Jet Kit. The bike is COMPLETELY STOCK and I live in Maryland at or close to sea level. Any advice? Thanks for all your expert knowledge ahead of time! Please advise.

Unfortunately no. That is what I had to scrafic inorder to get the parts I read up on. It didi not come as a kit. I bought everything individually. I was trying to get the "best of the best". Any ideas? And do you think it is a good idea to run with the K&N air force foam "condom" pre-filter over the GYT-R cotton filter? Thanks!

From what I understand you are throwing a new filter and adapter in there with an outerwear w/o the lid. Stock jetting is 140/145, 22.5 pilots, needles on 3rd clip and varying turns on the mixture screws. I would start with 150/155 and 25 pilots and work down if you need to. The needles should be ok but you will have to tweak the screws.

THis isn't a very helpful comment, but just like Maddog said, you'll have to play with it until you feel it's tuned right. He gave you a good starting point since you're not modifying much. Goodluck.

My 01 has a full FMF exhaust, and i bought a Dyno-Jet stage 2 kit, and im at under 3000 ft. in elevation. The instructions said to run 146, 148 dj mains.third clip on the needle,3 turns out, and trim the fins outta the snorkle. I did exactly that, and it runs perfect,,,havent had to take a wrench to the carbs since. Bosch

Thats kind of you to offer your jetting specs, but you have a full pipe and are using a different type of jets.

BTW RRaptoRR, yes its a good idea to run the pre-filter over the cloth filter, especially with the airbox lid off.

Hey guys,

This ia all realllllly good stuff. As to answer maddog56 question, I am not running any aftermaket pipe. I am using the stock full exhaust with the silincer in it. The only thing I am changing is putting in a:

GYT-R Cotton filter adapter
GYT-R Cotton filter
GYT-R Jet Kit
K&N Enforcement Sponge Pre-Filter "condom" over the GYT-R Cotton filter

I live at about 350ft above sea level. Any more comments or questions? This is all great stuff...thanks again!
